It’s not clear from your tip, but just to clarify, shift chooses THE OTHER format. So if your default is TEXT, it chooses HTML, and vice versa.

Also the default is per identity. The default formatting depends on which From: you want to be. You can edit this under Manage identities. This might be useful for people who have always to reply using HTML for some accounts.

Check out this article… explains how to change the default settings for sending mail so it doesn’t ask you each time you send a message.

I am surprised this doesn’t work with Forward. I use Reply and change the addresses as bugloaf suggests, but Forward should work.

This is awesome – I send everything in plain text, but sometimes MUST reply to certain emails in HTML (for business reasons). Not having a way to do this has driven me CRAZY for the longest time. Your tip solves this problem at long last. Thank you so much!

For forwarding in HTML, just hit shift + Reply and change the address to the person you want to forward to.
