Questo sito ha pubblicato un contest in cui si chiede di creare un calendario del 2008 che possa stare su un foglietto delle dimensioni di un biglietto da visita. Alcune soluzioni sono molto creative e decisamente interessanti. La maggior parte però sono indecifrabili e sembrano più degli esperimenti fatti da tecnci che studi di design. Il mio calendario preferito è quello che mostro nell’immagine del post (quello fatto da Ben Stevens). Il vostro preferito?
CSSVista è una software per windows (necessita delle librerie NET 2.0) che permette di fare un live editing del css di una pagina web e vederne i risultati contemporaneamente su Internet explorer e Firefox. Una volta installato CSSVista, il programma vi chiederà l’url di una pagina web di cui potrete vedere il render (esattamente come un qualsiasi browser). Il bottone EDIT farà comparire tre aree distinte: l’area di editing dei CSS della pagina e due aree di preview (una per Internet Explorer e una per Firefox). Modificando il codice del CSS, vedrete in tempo reale gli aggiornamenti degli stili nelle altre due finestre.
L’idea è molto carina e funzionale, ma sul mio sistema (windows XP caricato su Parallels di OSX) c’è un problema abbastanza grave in fase di editing del css: il focus sembra passare in automatico dall’area di modifica del CSS agli altri pannelli. Questo spostamento non voluto del focus è decisamente frustrante perchè mi sono spesso trovato a scrivere del codice e a non vederlo correttamente inserito (perchè per esempio l’area attiva era uno dei due pannelli della preview).
Se proprio volete ottenere questa soluzione vi consiglio di utilizzare due estensioni per firefox che vi permettono di modificare al volo un css di una pagina web qualunque (EDIT CSS) e IETAB (solo per windows) che vi permette di aprire dentro un tab di firefox una pagina caricata con il motore di Internet Explorer.
Safari 3 beta on mac crashes, it doesn’t load pages (always blank pages even if the html is there). Have you got same problem on Safari 3 on windows (xp, vista)?
New features are interesting (drag and drop tabs throughout the bookmarks bar, resizable text areas, spellcheck, new search and many visual fixes), but I’m going to uninstall safari 3 beta and wait the final release.
OsCommerce sucks: backoffice interface is so “old style”, there are so many functionality problems: you cannot delete english language, you cannot import from files, you HAVE to add image to every products..

It seems that the new direction of HCI (human computer interaction) is to HIDE computers and merge monitors with interactive surfaces (desks, tables, blackboards, walls and so on).
This is a music generator (it’s better say “wave generator”) that shows great interface mode: objects on the table are scanned and interact with the (hidden) system that feedbacks with lights and sounds.
The reactable, is a state-of-the-art multi-user electro-acoustic music instrument with a tabletop tangible user interface. Several simultaneous performers share complete control over the instrument by moving physical artefacts on the table surface and constructing different audio topologies in a kind of tangible modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming language.
I cannot copy any files to the SD Card (1GB) using a SD Card reader (TravelLite from Kingstone). It says the “Cannot copy xxxx file. The Disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk” message. SD Card is not locked.
I read many forums and newsgroups. Solution is nor software nor strictly hardware related:
put a piece of tape over the switch on the sd card and it will work. It worked!
I didn’t like yahoo portal and this redesign is not getting things better. It’s only cool how Ajax has been used. On otherside the redesign of flickr menu and footer is a BAD step behind in iteration design and usability: two clicks are worse than one click, hidden second level menu is worse that all visible menu levels, the new interface is worse than the old one. Do you agree?
